What to eat during pregnancy is one of the most sought after healthy pregnancy tips. Pregnancy does change not only a mothers desire to eat well to protect her child, but also the basic nutrition needs of the body. To learn what the best diet to follow during pregnancy is books are devoured, search engines are consulted and care providers are pestered.

In the end, all explanations of a balanced diet during pregnancy fall short if they only answer the question of what to eat. Telling a child to eat one piece of cake is easy, but letting them select that piece alone may result in a much larger portion than mom or dad may ever intended them to have.

Adults are no different. Knowing 10-12 servings of vegetables are needed each day is not one of those helpful healthy pregnancy tips and it does not translate to proper nutrition. Portion Sizes

The two slices of bread account for two servings of grain. Knowing that the average spinach salad contains about 2 cups of spinach greens, which is actually two or so servings of green leafy vegetables makes the task seem much more doable.

A healthy pregnancy diet can be easy to follow once the basic portion sizes are understood.
